“Take only memories. Leave nothing but footprints.”
– Chief Seattle

During the summer of 2021, I had the opportunity to work as a Horticulture Intern at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens! To work with a world-leading organization in sustainability is something I will always hold near and dear to my heart.

After my internship, I was asked to stay on as an interdepartmental specialist! I now work with events, admissions, and several other departments within the organization.

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

This past fall, I had the wonderful opportunity to intern with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy! This opportunity allowed me to get engaged with the Pittsburgh community hands-on. My work focused on the “Smart Parks” initiative as well as improving turnout for local events. This opportunity allowed me to gain valuable experience in the fields of community recreation, marketing, as well as communication.

During the height of the pandemic, I was not in school. I decided to change majors and take some time away from campus. I am proud to say I did not let anything get in the way of my career advancement!

I came across a local internship opportunity with State Farm. I did everything in my power to make this job a reality and I was able to intern in the fall of 2020 when I returned to school! Since classes were online, I was able to work and learn from the office.

I have had many part-time jobs over the years and in many cases, they have overlapped my other jobs and schoolwork. Each position has taught me unique, real-world skills that I carry throughout my work today.
